coming off the poles allows the court to be put up in a smaller area and, of course, is much safer. The net is easily adjusted and assembly/dis-assembly is easy. AWESOME PRODUCT! Would highly recommend to anyone. I can't imagine how good their premium product is!

May-Treanor/Branagh swept sixth-seeded Angie Akers and Tyra Turner, 21-14, 21-17, to win the title without losing a game all weekend. The win was May-Treanor’s 106th, adding to her all-time record, and Branagh’s 17th. May-Treanor/Branagh are the first women’s duo to win their first event as teammates since 2002, when Holly McPeak and Elaine Youngs won in Huntington Beach.

We play at a Navy Recreation Park in Italy every Saturday all summer long for the last few years. As the following got bigger and the
players got better, the wait time to play on the one sand pit got MUCH LONGER... Then one day my friend showed up with the Cobra... We set it up in the grass and I was very pleasantly surprised at the ease of set up and high quality of the product. Before long everyone wanted to play on the new grass court, and more people were playing at the same time. My friend has since transferred and I had to get another one for our club. One might not be enough!!! The staff at Cobra went out of their way to get us the system ASAP and were very helpful in every way.

Thanks Cobra!!

"Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the U.S. Army, training 50 percent of all Soldiers and 70 percent of the women entering the Army each year. Providing the Army with trained, disciplined, motivated and physically fit warriors who espouse the Army's core values and are focused on teamwork is the post's primary mission. Accomplishing that mission means training in excess of 50,000 basic training and advanced individual training Soldiers every year.

The post has other missions as well. Fort Jackson is home to the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, the U.S. Army Chaplains Center and School and the Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (formerly the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute).

The fort includes more than 52,000 acres, including more than 100 ranges and field training sites and 1,160 buildings. Soldiers, civilians, retirees and family members make up the Fort Jackson community that continues to grow in numbers and facilities. More than 3,900 active duty Soldiers and their 14,000 family members are assigned to the installation and make this area their home. Fort Jackson employs almost 5,200 civilians and provides services for more than 36,000 retirees and their family members. An additional 12,000 students attend courses at the Soldier Support Institute, Chaplain Center and School and Drill Sergeant School annually.

In nearly all cases, the ultimate determiner about the liveliness of net play, etc., is
who set the net up and how well they did.

The best system I've used is the 'Cobra' system which... was developed by some guy in California. It consists of a pair of 18" (? maybe 24") (Cobra note - 30") stakes which are driven with a sledge into the ground. The poles are somewhat flexible and fit over the stakes with sleeves. The greatest benefit of this system is the lack of guy wires and the lively net play. It is also nearly impossible to pull down. Obvious drawbacks are the weight of the system (Cobra note: 35 pounds - all components in carrybag) and needing to pound the stakes in. I will say from experience though that it is worth it....

See Testimonials page on COBRAVOLLEYBALL.ORG and endorsements on COBRAVOLLEYBALL.COM

Get 2, 3 or 4 times the practice with Cobra indoor volleyball equipment!

Find out why, since 1993, Cobra indoor volleyball equipment is the highest quality equipment for an unbelievable price and the safest volleyball volleyball equipment in the market today with a LIFETIME warranty!! In ones and twos, people in athletic clothing walk through a lighted door and onto the beach.

Well, not exactly a beach, but three sand volleyball courts in a former cigarette and coffee warehouse. For sand volleyball players life can be a beach, even if there's three feet of snow outside and the thermometer reads 10-below.

At Albany's Planet Volleyball, the growing popularity of indoor sand volleyball as an antidote to the cold-weather blahs is evidenced by the swarm of people in their 20s and 30s bumping, setting and spiking their way through an evening. Afterward, they move to the bar to have a few beers

``What you can do here is almost feel like you're outside on the sand,'' said Sue Wolfson, a social worker from Albany. ``You're not hibernating like a bear all winter.''

Planet Volleyball, which opened last winter, is one of a growing number of "volleybars'' with indoor sand volleyball courts, bars and restaurants.

USA Volleyball, the sport's governing body, estimates there's 100 volleyball centers in the nation that have at least one indoor sand court, plus another dozen or so that offer only sand courts. Most are in the Northeast or Midwest, where harsh winters are the norm and cabin fever remedies are always welcome.

``People want to get out, and they want to exercise during the winter. It's tough to do it outside in Albany, N.Y.,'' said beach volleyball gold medalist Kent Steffes.

The sport got a big boost from television exposure during the Olympics, where the beach volleyball competition was played before capacity crowds. Watching Americans Karch Kiraly and Steffes win the sport's first gold medal spurred a new interest in the sand game.

``They're getting a taste of it,'' said Steve Butler, a computer technician who plays on the indoor sand at Planet Volleyball to keep sharp for summer beach tournaments. ``They saw Karch Kiraly playing doubles and here they are.''

A chance to meet and mingle with others and the impending start of another long and cold winter are other factors driving indoor sand volleyball's appeal.

``Some of these places are great scenes,'' Steffes said. ``But that's beach volleyball. There's always been a social undertow to it. It's not just a game.''

Rochester's Hot Shots, started five years ago and the first facility of its kind in the Northeast, has six indoor sand courts and eight outdoor courts. Five thousand people play on 450 teams, and on any given winter night about 500 people jam the place, diving around in the sand and bellying up to the bar afterward.

``You can always run into somebody you know,'' Hot Shots owner J.B. Shares said. ``They feel they can get a workout and take advantage of the social atmosphere.''

The social aspect of the game isn't lost on organizers. Many sand leagues require each team to have at least two female players, ensuring a mixing of sexes not normally found in other recreational sports such as softball or basketball.

``After you play volleyball with someone, you really know their personality,'' Plant Volleyball manager Dawn Brown said. ``It's a lot like golf. You get to see how they handle the pressure, whether they stay positive when they're down.''

Despite its growing popularity, the indoor sand game isn't being embraced everywhere. A facility in Syracuse closed after little more than a year in business, as did another in New Jersey. A Hot Shots in Parma, Ohio, near Cleveland, closed earlier this year because the town wouldn't ease its alcohol ban, Shares said.

``It's tough to go into a place and create enthusiasm for volleyball if the enthusiasm for the sport isn't already there,'' he said.

Indoor sand volleyball centers, however, appear to have a bright future. Shares says he's looking into opening indoor beach courts in Buffalo, Chicago and Dublin, Ireland.

Wisconsin, better known for the NFL's Green Bay Packers and the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, has become a hotbed of indoor sand volleyball.

See testimonials page on COBRAVOLLEYBALL.ORG and endorsements on COBRAVOLLEYBALL.COM

Church Volleyball League

We started our Church Volleyball League with one Cobra Volleyball System. Over the years other Churches in our Diocese purchased Cobras as well and we now have a 14 Church Volleyball League in Long Island, NY. I was the coach from 1999 until last year and have been very happy with our Cobra indoor volleyball equipment.

Father Louis Nicholas
St. Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Shrine Church
Greenlawn, NY 11740

See Testimonials page on COBRAVOLLEYBALL.ORG and endorsements on COBRAVOLLEYBALL.COM

"I enjoy your product and will definitely recommend it to my colleagues."

I just wanted to let you know that the outstanding customer service I received from your company, after purchasing the Beach Tennis system, had a great influence on my decision when choosing new volleyball systems for our resort. I enjoy your product and will definitely recommend it to my colleagues.

These usually provide tips on how to make the transition from the indoor game. They can speed up the learning curve quite a bit for players who might get frustrated by the elements like wind and sand. Most camps combine fun with learning and cost around $100 to $150 per week. Camps are well worth the money if they are coached by a qualified beach professional. (You can find Ed's camps at ratcamp.com.)

One final bargain of beach volleyball is the lack of physical toll it takes on your body. It has one of the lowest injury rates of any sport. In my 12 years on the sand I've never experienced a major injury. I would highly recommend playing on sand to anyone who struggles with common indoor injuries because it can help to fortify at-risk joints like ankles and knees by strengthening all the muscles around them...."

CLICK HERE TO LINK TO COBRA VOLLEYBALL WEBSITE
