COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 31, 2012) – USA Volleyball has launched its indoor Junior Club Ranking System on its web site at usavolleyball.org.
The Club Ranking System will be used by USA Volleyball as a resource in identifying at-large selections to the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships as well as seeding the Championships. It can also be used by tournament directors when seeding their events.
“The USA Volleyball Club Ranking System is the first of its kind. It will be a critical tool for tournament directors in seeding their events, as well as for the Junior Competition Committee to help identify the at-large teams for the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships,” USA Volleyball Senior Director Tom Pingel said. "I'm sure it will also generate interest and conversation within the junior volleyball community. We will continue to improve the current system and look forward to unveiling the boys’ rankings early in 2013."
The system is being rolled out for girls’ programs for the 2012 season with hopes of using it for boys’ programs in 2013. The rankings system will be based on age classifications and open to 12s through 18s. Results for teams playing out of their age classification will be excluded.
An initial rank, based on results in key events from 2011, as well as points from tournaments that took place Jan. 14-16, 2012, will serve as the basis for the first ranking for 2012. From there, results in identified events will gain teams points in the system.
Events wishing to participate in the rankings system must be USAV-sanctioned, multiple-day competitions (with teams in each age division competing on more than one day) and must begin no earlier than the weekend of Jan. 14-16. To view more requirements of events wishing to be ranked, click here.
All results will come directly from the event in which a team participates and will be tied directly to a team’s 11-digit code. Teams will not import their results.
The ranking system has been developed and hosted by Hangastar. HangAStar (www.hangastar.com) serves organizations of all sizes from the club level to international organizations.
