Two-day Development Plan Seminar in Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, January 19, 2012 – The FIVB Regional Development Centre in Dominican Republic began a two-day seminar on the NORCECA Development Plan on Thursday with support from the FIVB.
The participants are coaches and instructors from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States with Juan Cartagena of Puerto Rico coordinating the seminar.
The opening ceremony was presided over by FIVB 1st executive vice-president NORCECA president Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and was also attended by Dominican Republic Olympic Committee president Luis Mejia Oviedo, FIVB executive vice-president Marta Centeno de Sajche, and FIVB Board of Administration member Mushtaque Mohammed.
Issues set to be discussed include the structure of the NORCECA Development Plan, the FIVB Development Plan, Standarization of Technical Approach, Mass Volleyball, Mini-Volley, Sitting Volleyball, School Volleyball, the Coaches’s Role, Country's Development and Scouting, Recruiting and selection of talents.
Besides Marte Hoffiz, Cartagena and Mohammed, the instructors are: Eugenio George, John Kessel, Nelson Ramirez, Justo Morales, Chrissy Benz, Rene Quintana, Francisco Cruz, Angel Peña, Argelio Hernandez and Roosevelt Comarazamy.
