Top teams travel down under for New Zealand National Tour

Auckland, New Zealand, January 18, 2012 – A host of international talent from the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour is set to take to the beaches of New Zealand over the next month after the dates for the New Zealand National Beach Volleyball Tour were confirmed on Tuesday.

The circuit will include four stops, highlighted by the New Zealand Open in Mount Maunganui from February 10 to 12. The tour will also visit Lake Karapiro, North Harbour and Hamilton.

Local favourites Kirk Pitman and Jason Lochhead will be joined by 2009 FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH world champions Germany’s Julius Brink and Jonas Reckerman as well as Norway’s Tarjah Skarland and Martin Spinnangr, Sweden‘s Hannes Brinkbourg and Steffan Gunnarson and USA’s Ed Ratlege and Jesse Rambis.

Dutch duo Sanne Keizer and Marleen Van Iersel and compatriots Roos Van der Hoeven and Jantine Van der Vlist as well as Germans Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig highlight the women’s schedule with the latter making their fourth visit to the land of the long white cloud.

They will also be joined by Spanish tandem Liliana Fernandez-Steiner and Elsa Baquerizo Macmillan for the last two events of the National Tour while British pairs Shauna Mullin and Zara Dampney and Denise Johns and Lucy Boulton and a number of teams from Vanuatu will travel to New Zealand for the final tournament.
