Offensive:

Doyle led the Lady Govs with 48 kills during the week. She opened the week with nine kills against Morehead State and added 16 digs. Doyle improved to 15 kills (.361 attack percentage) with three service aces and three blocks against Tennessee Tech. She finished the week with a career-best 24 kills (.450 attack percentage) with two service aces against Jacksonville State.

Economos recorded 23 digs against Morehead State and followed that up with 28 versus Tennessee Tech. She finished the week with a 32-dig effort against Jacksonville State, just missing her career-high.. She also had six assists and two services aces for the week. She had just one reception error in each match last week to give her a .946 reception percentage.

Fields recorded 45 assists, 12 digs, two kills and two blocks against Morehead State. She followed that up with 48 assists, three kills, nine digs and one block in the win over Tennessee Tech. Fields concluded the week with 53 assists, three kills and seven digs versus Jacksonville State. The 53 assists were just one shy of her career high.

2011 Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Team Notes

Austin Peay (7-9 OVC; 9-18 overall): Austin Peay fell to Morehead State (26-28, 25-21, 21-25, 22-250 before defeating Tennessee Tech (25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20) and Jacksonville State (26-28, 25-21, 25-14, 25-13). Junior Nikki Doyle led the team with 48 kills to go along with 32 digs and seven service aces during the week. She tallied a career-high 24 kills in the win over Jacksonville State. Freshman Hillary Plybon recorded 38 kills and a .309 attack percentage while sophomore Lauren Henderson added 26 kills and 12 blocks over the three matches. Senior Paige Economos registered 83 digs last week, including a 32-dig effort against JSU. Freshman setter Cami Fields dished out 146 assists last week. She recorded a double-double of 45 assists and 12 digs against Morehead State. Austin Peay will close out the regular-season with four straight road matches beginning with Tennessee State on Friday and UT Martin on Sunday.

Eastern Illinois (6-10 OVC; 9-18 overall): Eastern Illinois handed Morehead State its first OVC loss, defeating the Eagles in three sets (25-16, 25-22, 25-22). The Panthers also fell at SIUE (22-25, 15-22, 22-25) and Eastern Kentucky (25-20, 20-25, 25-15, 23-25, 10-15) last week. Junior Emily Franklin led the EIU offense with 44 kills, including a career-high 24 versus Eastern Kentucky. Junior Alison Berens helped the Panthers set a new school record for blocks in a three-set match with 16 rejections. Berens tallied 10 of EIU's 16 blocks in that match. She finished the week with 15 blocks. Senior Chrissie Albers dished out 114 assists over the three matches. She tallied a season-high 54 against Eastern Kentucky. Eastern Illinois will travel to Murray State on Tuesday before hosting Tennessee Tech on Friday and Jacksonville State on Saturday.

Eastern Kentucky (8-7 OVC; 13-13 overall): After losing four straight matches on the road, Eastern Kentucky returned home and earned a pair of victories last week. The Colonels defeated SIUE (25-16, 25-23, 25-12) and Eastern Illinois (20-25, 25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 15-10). In the win over SIUE, sophomore Kelsey Kuehner led all players with 14 kills and a .609 attack percentage. She didn't make an error in 23 attempts. Ashley Edmond added 12 kills versus the Cougars while Dena Ott tallied a match-high 25 digs and Hannah Burkle had six blocks. In the win over EIU, Edmond led the team with 17 kills to go along with 10 digs. Burkle finished with 14 kills and six blocks, including the match-winning block in the fifth set. Eastern Kentucky will host Morehead State on Tuesday, Murray State on Friday and Southeast Missouri on Saturday.

Jacksonville State (7-9 OVC; 9-17 overall): Jacksonville State defeated Tennessee State (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23) before falling to Austin Peay (26-28, 25-21, 25-14, 25-13) last week. Senior Liza Senenkova tallied 28 kills over the three matches while sophomore Abbey Heredia recorded 41 assists and 23 digs last week. The Gamecocks will travel to SIUE on Friday and Eastern Illinois on Saturday.

Morehead State  (14-1 OVC; 19-6 overall): Morehead State clinched at least a share of its 10th OVC regular-season championship with wins over Austin Peay (28-26, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22) and SIUE (25-10, 25-18, 25-17). The Eagles also suffered their first Conference loss of the season as the Eagles fell to Eastern Illinois (16-25, 22-25, 22-25). It was the first sweep by an OVC opponent at Morehead State since 2005. Redshirt freshman Laura McDermott had 11 blocks on the week, including five at Austin Peay. McDermott also had 31 kills over the three matches. Senior Emma Keough had eight block assists last week and is now just 10 shy of breaking the school's career mark of 350. Freshman setter Colbey Cameron totaled career-highs of 24 assist and three kills in just two sets played. Sophomore Leslie Schellhaas tallied 62 digs and now needs just 68 more to crack the school's top 10 list. The Eagles can clinch the OVC title outright and earn the tournament host role for the second straight year with one more league victory. Morehead State travels to Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday before hosting Southeast Missouri on Friday and Murray State on Saturday.


Murray
State (7-8 OVC; 7-19 overall): Murray State earned a pair of OVC wins last week, defeating Southeast Missouri (26-24, 25-17, 25-14) and UT Martin (24-26, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-11). The win over the Skyhawks marked head coach David Schwepker's 200th career victory. Senior Teresa Krog earned her first career double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs versus UT Martin. Freshman Beth Mahurin recorded 33 kills last week, including a career-high 20 versus UT Martin. Senior Kayleah Sauer recorded 30-plus digs for just the second time this year with 33 against the Skyhawks. Sauer now needs just 43 digs to break the school's all-time mark. Junior Lia Havili helped pace the team to a .241 hitting percentage as she dished out 72 assists last week. Sophomore Wendy Zickfield recorded a career-best seven block assists in the match with UTM. Murray State will host Eastern Illinois on Tuesday before traveling to Eastern Kentucky on Friday and Morehead State on Saturday.

Southeast Missouri (9-6 OVC; 11-15 overall): Southeast Missouri split a pair of matches last week, falling to Murray State (24-26, 17-25, 14-25) and defeating UT Martin 925-14, 24-11, 20-25, 25-23). Sophomore Colleen Yarber recorded 17 kills in the win over UT Martin while also registering two blocks. Sophomore Berkley Idel compiled 30 digs last week, including a team-high 22 versus the Skyhawks. Sophomore Julie Shives dished out 59 assists over the two matches while also recording 10 kills and a .381 attack percentage. The Redhawks will travel to Morehead State on Friday and Eastern Kentucky on Saturday

SIUE (5-11 OVC; 10-18 overall):
SIUE defeated Eastern Illinois (25-22, 25-15, 25-22) before falling to Eastern Kentucky (16-25, 23-25, 12-25) and Morehead State (10-25, 18-25, 17-25) last week. Chelsea Colclasure is now fifth on the SIUE single-season list for digs with 537. She is just 86 away from the top spot. Sophomore Kelsey Augustine lead the Cougars in kills with 248 while setter Sammi Minton leads the team with a .326 hitting percentage. SIUE has recorded 150 service aces this year while its opponents have tallied 111. The Cougars will host Jacksonville State on Friday and Tennessee Tech on Saturday.

Tennessee State (10-6 OVC; 14-9 overall): Tennessee State fell to Jacksonville State (25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 23-25) before defeating Tennessee Tech (25-23, 25-19, 25-18) last week. Senior Terakka Walker recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 17 digs against JSU before leading the team with 16 kills behind a .370 hitting percentage in the win over Tech. Junior Britani Hathorn led all players in digs in both matches as she tallied 18 digs versus JSU and 14 against Tennessee Tech. Sophomore setter Erika Moss dished out 80 assists,including 44 in the match with the Gamecocks. Tennessee State will host Lipscomb on Tuesday and Austin Peay on Friday.

Tennessee Tech (3-13 OVC; 4-22 overall): Tennessee Tech fell at Austin Peay (20-25, 17-25, 25-22, 20-25) and Tennessee State (23-25, 19-25, 18-25) last week. Natalie Penrod led the Golden Eagles with 25 kills to go along with 10 digs. Allison May paced the defense with 25 digs. Tennessee Tech will travel to Eastern Illinois on Friday and SIUE on Saturday.

UT Martin (10-6 OVC; 15-11 overall): UT Martin dropped a pair of OVC matches last week, falling to Murray State (26-24, 25-19, 19-25, 22-25, 11-15) and Southeast Missouri (14-25, 11-25, 25-20, 23-25). Senior Brittany Wilburn tallied 24 kills on a .481 hitting percentage last week. She reached double-digits in kills in both matches. Against Murray State, Wilburn tallied 13 kills and hit. 520. Junior Kasey Elswick added 55 more digs last week to become the school's single-season dig leader. Senior Jenna Miller opened the week with a career-best 56 assists versus Murray State before dishing out 43 versus Southeast Missouri. Miller tallied 20 digs versus the Racers for her 11 double-double of the season. Emily Keaton led the team in kills in both matches with a career-best 20 at Murray State and 14 at Southeast Missouri. UT Martin will host Austin Peay on Saturday in its only match of the week.
