No. 7 Hawai'i 3, Fresno State 1
No. 7 Hawai'i defeated Fresno State on Thursday in four sets (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18). With the win, UH improves to 23-1 overall and 11-0 in the WAC, while the Bulldogs drop to 10-12 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Hawai'i out-hit the Bulldogs .316 to .160 on the match. The Rainbow Wahine also had more kills (59-51), assists (56-48), digs (66-54), aces (5-4) and blocks (9-4).
Jane Croson posted a match-high 17 kills to go along with nine digs to lead Hawai'i. Kanani Danielson recorded 14 kills and 16 digs for her WAC-leading 14th double-double of the season, and Brittany Hewitt added a match-high seven blocks.
For Fresno State, Korrin Wild had 15 kills and Cecilia Agraz had 19 digs.
Utah State 3, New Mexico State 2
Utah State survived three match points in a five-set win over New Mexico State (25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 19-25, 18-16) Thursday night in Logan. With the win, USU improves to 10-13 on the season and 5-5 in WAC play, while NM State falls to 18-6 overall and 7-2 in league play.
Utah State hit .255 on the match, while New Mexico State hit .242. USU also had 2.5 more team blocks (14.5-12.0) and four fewer service errors (9-5) in the match, while NM State finished with six more digs (59-53). Both teams had seven service aces.
Shay Sorensen recorded a career-high 19 kills on .533 hitting, while Liz McArthur had 16 kills and 13 digs for her 11th double-double of the season and 23rd of her career.
New Mexico State was led by Meredith Hays, who had 25 kills and 12 digs for her 10th double-double of the season.
Idaho 3, Louisiana Tech 0
Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan became yhe school's all-time wins leader when she picked up her 175th win with a serrp of Louisiana Tech (25-21, 25-17, 25-21) Thursday night. With the win, the Vandals improve to 12-11 on the season and 6-4 in WAC play. Louisiana Tech falls to 6-17 overall and 0-9 in the WAC.
Idaho out-hit Louisiana Tech .270 to .091. Idaho finished with 51 kills, 49 assists, 52 digs and 11 total blocks. LA Tech had 31 kills, 29 assists, 46 digs and four blocks.
Allison Walker finished with 17 kills and hit a season-high .389 in the match. Alicia Milo had 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks for the Vandals and Cassie Hamilton had 12 digs to move her career total to 1,319. She is 101 digs away from tying Idaho's career record.
Marcella Braz led the Techsters with nine kills, while Stephany Salas posted a match-high 18 digs.
San Jose State 3, Nevada 0
San Jose State swept past Nevada (25-19, 25-14, 25-17) in WAC action Thursday night. With the win, the Spartans improve to 10-14 overall and 5-6 in the WAC. Nevada drops to 4-17 on the season and 1-8 in conference play.
For the match, San Jose State hit .350, its third-best hitting percentage in a match this season. Nevada hit .040 on the match. SJSU also had more kills (39-30), assists (36-28), digs (39-29), blocks (8-6) and aces (5-3).
Savanah Leaf posted a team-best 11 kills, while Krista Miller hit .455 with seven kills. Caitlin Andrade maintained her fourth-place position on the SJSU career assists list with 30 on the night to move her career total to 2,591.
