MOREHEAD STATE 3, AUSTIN PEAY 1
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -
Junior outside hitter Ellie Roberson landed 22 kills, and freshman setter Colbey Cameron contributed a career-high 24 assists while hitting .500 to lead the Morehead State volleyball team to its 22nd consecutive Ohio Valley Conference win, a 3-1 (28-26, 21-25, 25-21, 25-33) victory, at Austin Peay's Dunn Center Tuesday night.

The Eagles also got 15 kills via a .367 attack efficiency and five blocks from redshirt freshman Laura McDermott. Sophomore libero Leslie Schellhaas came up with a match-high 31 digs, and junior middle Annie Gruenschlaeger tallied a match-best seven blocks.

MSU swept the season series from APSU for the first time in four seasons and also won in the Dunn Center for the first time since 2007. The Eagles improved to 18-5 overall and 13-0 in the OVC and also wrapped up their berth in the 2011 OVC Tournament. With three more league victories, MSU will claim at least a share of its second consecutive OVC regular season title and the right to host the postseason OVC tournament for the second straight year. Overall, the Eagles have now won 30 of their last 31 league matches.

The Eagles defeated APSU by smashing 67 kills, digging 88 Lady Gov attacks and tallying 10 team blocks. Senior Liz Schuler (14), sophomore Lindsey Roth (13) and redshirt sophomore Aryn Bohannon (10) all had double digit digs as well.

Cameron saw the most playing time in her young career and turned in career-high efforts running the Eagle attack. In just two sets, she handed out 24 assists and had three kills and no errors.

Hillary Plybon totaled a team-high 14 kills for APSU, while libero Paige Economos notched 23 digs. APSU hit .191 and had 76 digs.

The teams battled tight in the opening set, and APSU had the first three set point opportunities. But kills by McDermott, Bohannon and Roberson thwarted those chances. Keough finished off the extra-point set 28-26 with a kill.

The Eagles held onto an 18-17 lead in the second frame, but six kills led to an 8-3 Lady Gov run to end the set as APSU won 25-21. In the third set, MSU ran off five straight points to win 25-21 after it fell behind 21-20. Two kills each by Keough and McDermott and one from Cameron led to the victory.

MSU again trailed 21-20 late in the fourth stanza, but Gruenschaleger bailed the Eagles out as they went on a 5-1 run to end the match. She had three kills and a block in the final scoring flurry.

SIUE 3, EASTERN ILLINOIS 0
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -
SIUE erased an eight-point deficit in the final set to close out Eastern Illinois 25-22, 25-15, 25-22 in Ohio Valley Conference volleyball at the Vadalabene Center.

The Cougars improved 10-16 overall and 5-9 in the OVC. Tuesday's win moves SIUE even with EIU in the OVC standings as the Panthers fall to 8-17 overall.

SIUE came from behind in both the first and third sets. The Cougars were down 14-10 in the opening set when Johnson called a timeout. SIUE would rebound to win the next four points, including back-to-back blocks by Julia Whitfield and Jessica Hemann. That set the stage for SIUE to stay even with the Panthers for the rest of the set before pulling away late behind kills from Brianne Graunke, Jessica Hemann, and Sammi Minton.

The Cougars turned in one of their strongest performances of the season at the net with 12 blocks, the most for a three-set match this season.

Hemann led the team with six blocks followed by five from Whitfield. Kelsey Augustine and Graunke finished with three each. Brooke Smith collected three solo blocks.

EIU picked up a match-high 11 kills from Reynae Hutchison and 10 from Emily Franklin. The Panthers hit .087 for the match, the lowest by any SIUE opponent during the OVC season.

SIUE's aggressive play picked up in the second set when the team soared to a 10-3 lead early. EIU would only be able to pull within four points the rest of the set as the Cougars, which finished the match with a .258 hitting percentage, grabbed the two-set lead.

Franklin lifted the Panthers early when she served seven straight times in the third set. EIU grabbed a 13-5 lead. The Cougars pecked away at the lead before overtaking the Panthers at 21-20 on a kill by Graunke, who led the Cougars with 10 kills. Johnson said the game plan was to go to Graunke on the right side.
