Fofão backs Brazil to shine at World Cup
Lausanne, Switzerland, October 20, 2011 –Brazil’s Beijing 2008 Olympic Games gold-medal winning captain Fofão has said her side will go into the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup 2011 as favourites to take the crown when the tournament takes place in Japan from November 4 to 18 in a new blog for the FIVB website.
However, the volleyball icon, who herself claimed silver at the last edition of the tournament in 2007, warned her former team mates that they will need to be focused as no team should underestimate how tough the competition can be.
The four-time FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix also said that fans should prepare for some surprising results, and touted Serbia, who won the Women’s European Championship earlier this month, as possible dark horses.
