Home guys of Denmark play Oranjes for ticket to next year's final
Copenhagen, Denmark, September 10, 2011 - The hosts of Denmark qualified for the final of the Zonal Phase tournament – Pool C which is running through this weekend at Ofelia Beach by edging Turkey at the golden set that was required after the respective top teams, Bo Soderberg/Anders Lund Hoyer and Selcuk Sekerci/Volkan Gögtepe, had claimed both of their matches. The home guys did not run out of fuel after an already demanding day and they eventually clipped the ticket for the final by sealing that tie-break at 15-11. Denmark will play on Sunday the Netherlands in the attempt to advance directly to the final stage of the CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup which is scheduled for next year. The “Oranjes” got past Italy 3:1 in the second semifinal, but it was not an easy task for Nummerdor/Schuil and Boersma/Spijkers as all four matches ended up in a tie-break. Portugal and Romania are fighting for the fifth place of the standings and a ticket for the semis of the Continental Cup; after the first round of play the score stands at 1:1 and the outcome of this clash will be determined on Sunday morning.
